In times of climate crisis, the idea of frequency gains new relevance. Each artistic intervention—whether a spontaneous graffiti, a sensorial installation, or a detailed mural—emanates its own vibration, which reverberates the stories, challenges, and achievements of communities, always in tune with its surroundings and with the climate of environmental urgency. Although deeply connected to the territory in which they operate, these creators dialogue with artistic currents from various parts of the world, weaving a tapestry rich in meanings that transcends borders and invites us to reflect, collectively, on the impacts of global warming and unbridled consumption.
To keep their identity alive while participating in a broader scenario, artists balance tradition and innovation. This is revealed in the way they incorporate symbols, graphics, languages, and everyday narratives into their works, while absorbing techniques and influences from other urban and ethnic cultures. This constant exchange allows each voice to maintain its authenticity while inserting itself into a shared narrative.
The exhibition sensitively highlights this duality, bringing together works that, while revealing singular cultural identities, address universal issues such as ancestry, identity, resistance, and hope. By tracing connections between local traditions and contemporary expressions, artists broaden the dialogue with the public, stimulating the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of a collective consciousness.
Integrating the celebrations of the Brazil-France Year, which takes place in 2025, the exhibition reinforces this collaborative relationship between the two countries, resonating the frequencies that connect their cultures and promoting a space for joint creation, traversed by listening, exchange, and dialogue.
More than an exhibition, this celebration of urban art is an invitation to sensitive listening: an affirmation of the beauty present in diversity and the strength of joint creation in the face of the challenges of our time. CRIPTA DJAN
Cripta Djan is a pixador , artist, activist, and documentarist whose work centers on pixação (Brazilian style tagging) as the central axis of his trajectory in urban spaces. His work represents and reclaims the figure of the pixador in political, academic, artistic, and cinematographic fields. His work moves between drawing and writing, form and counterform, the legible and illegible, right and wrong. He began his journey in the streets of Itapevi, in Greater São Paulo, and today his work is internationally recognized, bringing the language of pixação to contemporary art centers around the world.
CYRCLE
Cyrcle is an art collective formed by American artists David Leavitt and David Torres, based in Los Angeles, California. Their works explore themes such as life, duality, and the human condition, combining these questions with careful aesthetic attention to form, typography, and colors. The duo's work unfolds across different media, moving between formal investigation and encouraging public participation. They also stand out for intervening in public spaces and urban environments, promoting a visual dialogue that invites the viewer to reflection.
KOUKA
A French-Congolese painter, Kouka Ntadi was born in Paris in 1981, grandson of expressionist painter Francis Gruber. The artist confronts his origins, both in his canvases and in the street. Exploring different forms of portraiture, he develops his research themes around the essence of Man and identity. His painting plays with graffiti codes to better touch the core of research on the status of the image. Since his famous "Bantu Warriors," his first urban mark, he has constantly reminded us that public space, like the world, belongs to no one.
RERO
At the intersection of urban practices, land art, and conceptual creation inspired by Duchamp, Debord, and, of course, Roland Barthes. Rero questions the rhetoric of the image and its "floating chain of meanings." The artist's intriguing and luminous artworks, infused with a modern and transgressive sense of poetry, his innovative and enormous installations have spread throughout the world. For Rero, "art is an alarm system that seeks to awaken the atrophied muscle of collective sensitivity," wrote art critic Achille Bonito Oliva.
LUiSA PIMENTA
An 18-year-old artist from Rio de Janeiro, Luísa Pimenta is a young talent and great promise in the current art scene. She drew nourishment from the effervescence of the street graffiti scene in the USA, transforming all the influences and pluralities of North American urban art into distinctive features that blend with her Brazilian roots. Her works are a true window to her soul. With visceral expressions, firm and impactful strokes, Luísa shares her affections and perceptions of the world in an authentic and sensitive way, communicating with the viewer in an intense and touching manner.
KASSiA BORGES
Kássia Borges Karajá is a visual artist, researcher, teacher, and curator. She primarily researches issues surrounding women and ancestry. Starting from the knowledge of traditional Karajá ceramics, she focuses especially on clay for her contemporary creations. In addition to her ceramic investigation, she is also a member of the MAHKU collective (Movement of Huni Kuin Artists), a highlight at the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale, with participation in salons and exhibitions at national and international institutions.
EL SEED
EL Seed is an artist who combines painting and sculpture to create a unique visual language, inspired by the tradition of calligraphy and the pulse of urban art. His work stands out for intricate layers of colors, symbols, and letters that express universal messages about coexistence, peace, and freedom. Identity, cultural heritage, and the human desire for connection and belonging are themes that run through his work. Through his art, EL Seed gives visibility to the communities with which he relates, using language as a bridge for dialogue and the construction of a sense of collectivity.
iNSiDE OUT PROJECT -JR
After winning the TED Prize in 2011, French artist JR launched the Inside Out Project, on display in the exhibition. The artist created a participatory platform that helps individuals and communities transmit a message through large-scale black and white portraits pasted as wheatpaste posters in public spaces. JR exhibits freely in the streets of the world, capturing everyone's attention, including those who don't usually visit museums. His artistic practice makes the anonymous visible by pasting their portraits in public spaces, from the Brazilian favelas to the streets of New York and Istanbul. These installations made in group action are documented and shared online.

Une voix unique dans le dialogue collectif
En temps de crise climatique, l'idée de fréquence gagne une nouvelle pertinence. Chaque intervention artistique — qu'il s'agisse d'un graffiti spontané, d'une installation sensorielle ou d'une fresque détaillée — émane sa propre vibration, qui fait écho aux histoires, aux défis et aux réussites des communautés, toujours en harmonie avec son environnement et avec le climat d'urgence environnementale. Bien que profondément liés au territoire dans lequel ils opèrent, ces créateurs dialoguent avec des courants artistiques de diverses parties du monde, tissant une tapisserie riche de significations qui transcende les frontières et nous invite à réfléchir, collectivement, sur les impacts du réchauffement climatique et de la consommation effrénée.
Pour maintenir leur identité vivante tout en participant à un scénario plus large, les artistes équilibrent tradition et innovation. Cela se révèle dans la façon dont ils incorporent des symboles, des graphismes, des langages et des récits quotidiens dans leurs oeuvres, tout en absorbant des techniques et des influences d'autres cultures urbaines et ethniques. Cet échange constant permet à chaque voix de maintenir son authenticité tout en s'insérant dans un récit partagé.
L'exposition met en évidence avec sensibilité cette dualité, réunissant des oeuvres qui, tout en révélant des identités culturelles singulières, abordent des questions universelles comme l'ancestralité, l'identité, la résistance et l'espoir. Son oeuvre évolue entre le dessin et l'écriture, la forme et la contre-forme, le lisible et l'illisible, le juste et le faux. Il a commencé son histoire dans les rues d'Itapevi, dans la grande banlieue de São Paulo, et aujourd'hui son travail est reconnu internationalement, amenant le langage de la pixação dans des centres d'art contemporain du monde entier.
CYRCLE
Cyrcle est un collectif artistique formé par les artistes américains David Leavitt et David Torres, basé à Los Angeles, Californie. Leurs oeuvres explorent des thèmes comme la vie, la dualité et la condition humaine, combinant ces questionnements avec une attention esthétique soignée à la forme, à la typographie et aux couleurs. Le travail du duo se déploie à travers différents médias, transitant entre l'investigation formelle et l'encouragement à la participation du public. Ils se distinguent également par leurs interventions dans les espaces publics et les environnements urbains, promouvant un dialogue visuel qui invite le spectateur à la réflexion.
KOUKA
Peintre franco-congolais, Kouka Ntadi est né à Paris en 1981, petit-fils du peintre expressionniste Francis Gruber. L'artiste confronte ses origines, tant dans ses toiles que dans la rue. Explorant différentes formes de portrait, il développe ses thèmes de recherche autour de l'essence de l'Homme et de l'identité. Sa peinture joue avec les codes du graffiti pour mieux toucher au coeur de la recherche sur le statut de l'image. Depuis ses célèbres "Guerriers Bantous", sa première marque urbaine, il nous rappelle constamment que l'espace public, comme le monde, n'appartient à personne.
RERO
À l'intersection des pratiques urbaines, du land art et de la création conceptuelle inspirée par Duchamp, Debord et, bien sûr, Roland Barthes, Rero questionne la rhétorique de l'image et sa "chaîne flottante de signifiés". Les oeuvres d'art intrigantes et lumineuses de l'artiste, imprégnées d'un sens moderne et transgressif de la poésie, ses installations innovantes et démesurées se sont répandues à travers le monde. Pour Rero, "l'art est un système d'alarme qui cherche à réveiller le muscle atrophié de la sensibilité collective", a écrit le critique d'art Achille Bonito Oliva.
LUiSA PIMENTA
Artiste carioca de 18 ans, Luísa Pimenta est un jeune talent et une grande promesse de la scène artistique actuelle. Elle s'est nourrie de l'effervescence de la scène du graffiti de rue aux États-Unis, transformant toutes les influences et pluralités de l'art urbain nord-américain en traits distinctifs qui se mêlent à ses racines brésiliennes. Ses oeuvres sont une véritable fenêtre sur son âme. Avec des expressions viscérales, des traits fermes et percutants, Luísa partage ses affections et perceptions du monde de façon authentique et pleine de sensibilité, communiquant avec le spectateur de manière intense et touchante.
KASSiA BORGES
Kássia Borges Karajá est artiste visuelle, chercheuse, professeure et commissaire d'exposition. Elle étudie principalement les questions entourant la femme et l'ancestralité. Partant des connaissances de la céramique traditionnelle Karajá, elle se concentre surtout sur l'argile pour ses créations contemporaines. En plus de ses recherches sur la céramique, elle est également membre du collectif MAHKU (Mouvement des artistes Huni Kuin), à l'honneur lors de la 60e édition de la Biennale de Venise, avec une participation à des salons et des expositions dans des institutions nationales et internationales.

EL Seed est un artiste qui combine peinture et sculpture pour créer un langage visuel unique, inspiré par la tradition de la calligraphie et de la pulsation de l'art urbain. iNSiDE OUT PROJECT -JR
Après avoir remporté le Prix TED en 2011, l'artiste français JR a lancé le Projet Inside Out, exposé dans l'exposition. L'artiste a créé une plateforme participative qui aide les individus et les communautés à transmettre un message par le biais de portraits en noir et blanc à grande échelle collés comme des affiches dans les espaces publics. JR expose librement dans les rues du monde, captant l'attention de tous, y compris ceux qui ne fréquentent pas habituellement les musées. Sa pratique artistique rend visibles les anonymes en collant leurs portraits dans l'espace public, des favelas brésiliennes aux rues de New York et d'Istanbul. Ces installations réalisées en action de groupe sont documentées et partagées en ligne.
